One of the main objectives of the FCCD is to administer and manage the financial resources provided by the associated bodies.

These resources are intended to finance solidarity and cooperation projects in developing countries, awareness-raising projects in Catalonia and also, when the situation requires it, emergency campaigns.

  • Project management

The FCCD has signed agreements with various city councils and supra-municipal bodies to support them in the management of its own call for grants for development cooperation projects, from advice to the preparation of the bases of the calls, the analysis of the projects presented, the advice to the entities, the follow-up of the approved projects and the control of the justification.

  • Funding

All projects managed by the FCCD must have the financial support of at least one partner city council. Other partners can be added to a project initiated by another city council. City councils that do not have their own call can collaborate directly on other projects.

  • Tracking
    • Control of the development of the projects carried out and the correct destination of the resources provided. In this sense, the executing entities or institutions must periodically present a report on the development of the project and a final report at the end of it.
    • Support and accompaniment of processes. The FCCD commitment to the projects goes beyond its financing; it maintains an open dialogue with the entities and institutions that execute the projects to guarantee their correct development.
    • Representation of Catalan councils in solidarity with the South, to oversee the development of projects carried out within the framework of twinnings and other solidarity initiatives.

The creation of permanent field offices facilitates the monitoring and coordination of projects in regions where a high number of projects are concentrated. The FCCD currently has an office in Nicaragua, based in Managua, and an office in Senegal, based in Ziguinchor.

In regions where it is not possible to maintain a permanent office, the people in charge of each area periodically make trips to visit and evaluate the development of various projects and maintain contacts with the executing local organizations (municipalities, NGOs and other local bodies).
