ABOUT THE NETWORK
The MIDEV network has been set up by several European institutions to exchange ideas and practices on issues regarding the relationship between migration, integration and development. This relationship has to been seen in a transnational perspective, including countries of origin, transit and destination. It is the conviction of the members of this network that working on development in their countries of origin advances the integration process of migrants and migrant associations in their European host society and vice versa. The aim of the MIDEV network is therefore to promote initiatives and policies linking migration, integration and development. Actions to achieve this goal include:
  • Research
  • Exchange of knowledge
  • Capacity building
  • Awareness raising

All activities must lead to the strengthening of the collaboration and the mutual recognition between the following key actors: migrant associations, authorities at the local, regional, national and European level and NGO’s working in the field of migration, integration and development.

The members of the MIDEV network all have extensive experience working on the relationship between migration, integration and development (albeit from different angles). All members are part of – or in the process of building up - national networks which include:

1. Local, regional and national authorities.
2. Local, regional and national NGOs.
3. Migrants and migrant associations.
4. Research centres.
5. Institutions from developing countries such as local NGOs, rural community associations and research centres.

These national sub networks will be integrated in the MIDEV network.

OBJECTIVES
